Between 1993 and 1995, Stone appeared in commercials for Taiwan's Kaixi Oolong Tea and MTV Network as an avant-garde artist, reflecting his perspectives on art and life. These engagements were more than mere commercial ventures; they were extensions of his artistic practice, showcasing a life wholly dedicated to art.

Kaixi Oolong Tea Commercials in 1994 featuring a New York based artist and musician Shi Cun (Stone) as the spokesperson for a new generation in Taiwan nicknamed as the New New Generation.


Heavy Metal Music 1994

1994 was the year for Stone. The new generation tea commercial based on his story became a hit around New Year, and he became the spokesperson of the New New Generation afterwards. In summer, he released his first heavy metal music album titled “A Rocker on the Street” which was unprecedented in Taiwan’s music history. Stone wrote most of his songs and music for this album, and played as both the singer and lead guitar.


MTV Asia VJ Schutze 1995

Stone became a MTV Asia VJ in 1995 to introduce music videos to Chinese audience for MTV’s first 24 hours Mandarin and English Channels. It was the first time in MTV’s history to produce and broadcast global commercials in Chinese with VJ Schutze as the main character.
